Opening: Egypt Sunken Treasures
From: 7th February – 31st May 2009
At: Scuderie juvarriane della Reggia di Venaria (Turin)
Here some images of the opening of the Sunken Treasures show at the Venaria Reale in Turin, Italy. Housed in the recently renovated castle of the Savoy court, the exposition is a true sensory experience. The archaeologist Franck Goddio working along famous figure of the experimental theatre Robert Wilson for the design of the space and the sound arrangements of Laurie Anderson has taken the step to show archaeological artifacts in unconventional and exiting ways. The basis of the exhibition is more about emotion and the senses as the pieces are displayed by their aesthetic sequence rather than their historical one. The light and sound arrangements create a sense of purity and a mystical experience as one passes from one area to another, and the sense of being underwater is prevalent throughout the show.
