Gunkanjima (battleship island) is a small stretch of land off Nagasaki, the mine town used to be one of the most dense places in the world until it was mysteriously closed down without warning in 1970. Gunkanjima was reopened for viewing on April 2009 and photographer Alexis Arragon had an opportunity to take these photos.
