SHOWSTUDIO - The strange and the good

I don’t check showtudio daily like some of their more devoted followers. Yes, Nick Night’s fashion website is amazing, he was one of the first photographers to embrace the Internet as valid medium and I consider him a pioneer of the fashion digital age. When I stumbled into their recently opened on-line shop I found it rather strange that the items on sale where so absurdly expensive. Is this a joke? Who in this day and age want to but £25 000 John Galliano Union Jack? For that price buy a couture dress, wear it, and know that you still have a sort of piece of art. I guess it seemed like a good idea to put on sale some of the special collaboration items exclusive to showstudio and get in the business of selling “fashion history”. But does an artefact made by an artistic director merit a £2500 price tag? I say no.
In interesting news I suggest to all aspiring film makers to enter the Raw Power competition to get a chance to work with Alexander McQueen and PUMA, for what -as the cliche sentence goes- could be is the opportunity of a lifetime. And since I respect Nick Night I doubt this is a bad case of crowd sourcing.
