Fashion Muse: the model
The Metropolitan Costume Institute has announced its theme for the next installments of their yearly exhibition. For spring 2009. “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” show aims to explore fashion and the changing ideals of beauty that accompanied different eras; from Marion Morehouse Peggy Moffitt, Iman, Nadja Auermann and Gisele Bündchen. I imagine the gala, which is one of New York’s most important fashion events of each year, will be attended by all the major models of this era.
One reads about the long gone days of the super model when faces like Linda Evengalista, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell’s where recognizable and famous. People always blame it on the fact that models these days are too young and lack personality because of it. This begs the question: are these young models not being picked by someone in the business??
