In Paris - Alex Katz

Alex Katz depicts his wife, Ada, in ‘‘The Black Dress’’ (1960).
Alex Katz American Artist associated with the Pop Art movement has a show coming up at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris. Terribly underrated during the earlier part of his career, he now has the recognition he deserves as a major American painter. Interestingly for us the show explores Fashion. “Fashion is dealing with the present tense and currents. Fashion is a no-no to people for whom the artist ‘creates beauty forever’ beauty is a constant factor and will always be there; It`s unstable when it comes to fashion, because it changes. Nothing is stable.” (Alex Katz)

Great painting.
1960! One more proof that the little black dress, black pumps and red lips are timeless. Thank you Laura!
